Where am I now?

The past few months have been moving quickly. Life on the East Coast seems to go even faster because the states are so close together and it is easy to find yourself in a new area within hours. The climate varies quite a bit too, which keeps the packing interesting.

So, here I am back on LBI. Just last Wednesday I was in New York, a place that I find calming. I know most people associate “calming” with a beach or a more rural environment. For me… NYC has it all. Design, healthy delicious foods, stunning architecture. Everyone is familiar with New York, so I don’t feel like I need to go on. Here are some images I took while wandering around last week.

The next destination was beautiful Vermont. This is a place that probably resinates better with people as being a peaceful place. It too is calming for me  as there is still enough going on and it reaches me on another aesthetic level.  Quechee is a place  with generous landscapes; rivers, lakes, mountains and a whole lot of green. case and point:

Also, Quechee is home to the lovely Simon Pearce. Here is the original place where they make the most stunning wares. I have a few images of the basement level of Simon Pearce where the glass is carefully blown and crafted to eventually live upstairs in the retail shop. The restaurant and grounds aren’t bad either. I have to admit it is one of my favorite places in that area.

Africa East and West

We landed on planet Africa. A completely different world and quite a contrast between the East and the West. Our  journey began on the West side visiting Accra, Lome and Togo and later went to the East to begin our days dodging elephants and lions in the Serengeti.

Next, we wandered the neighborhood and saw the following sights;

We ventured out to the Voodoo market. Fascinating, but absolutely horrifying!

Later, we relaxed at Coco Beach.

We flew to the other side of Africa in a tiny airplane!

After landing in Arusha, we went to what was called the the coffee shop. It was certainly the nicest coffee shop I have ever seen.

Then we headed off to enjoy our first day of the Safari.

Day one proved to be pretty incredible. We so many exotic animals! Later, we went to the Soroi Serengeti Lodge. What a fantastic and aesthetically superb place!

We also got to camp. Ok, it was more of a glamp… but it was lovely hearing the animals at night being in such a peaceful environment.

I can’t even begin to express that ineffable feeling I had when seeing these gorgeous creatures in the wild.

We also visited the Maasai village. Home to 120 people that live exclusively on cows, and goats. They showed us around their exotic home.

I feel so lucky that I was able to have this experience. I knew it would be amazing, but I never dreamed it would be this fantastic. I am not sure what I can do to top this trip.

Just making the best of our last few weeks in Paris for a while. So many great things to do in this incredible city! Documented here are images of the endless pubs and restaurants in Saint Germain, Hotel Athenee in the Opera area, a visit to Printemps, another great spot for a nice lunch and verre de vin at Cafe St Regis, the exterior of the François-Mitterrand Library , the interior of  the Pantheon, and finally the Latin Quarter.

Winter in Paris

It has been a long winter in Paris. Though, I wish it would snow more often. Here are a few shots of the one snowfall that actually stuck a few weeks ago.

Happy Valentine’s Day from Paris! It has been a wonderful few days filled with cupcakes, conversation hearts, champagne and adventures in Paris. This is the perfect city to celebrate and share good times with a loved one. The weather was so rainy yesterday that we decided to have a second Valentine’s Day so we could visit the lover’s lock bridge  and enjoy a beautiful day around town.

Rainy Valentine’s Day in Paris

It is a rainy Valentine’s Day here in Paris. We are avoiding the rain for a bit by having omelets and planning our adventures for the day.

February in Paris…..These are a few of my favorite things.

We will be traveling in March and leaving Paris for a few months. In effort to practice with different settings on my camera, I decided to document some of my favorite things that I will miss while out of the country. My camera has this panorama feature which I have not done much with, so here is a first attempt. I documented my trip to Monoprix and the center of town in Boulogne. Next, I just had to post about marche day. Wednesdays and Saturdays are “marche days”  in Boulogne. Today, I got the most delicious strawberries and as always my mixed nuts. The raisins are like sweet giant gum drops! I am not sure if my breakfast will be as good without these little gems. The final photo is the view from our kitchen window. While the month has been pretty rainy and overcast, today was actually pretty clear. So there are a few of my favorite things!

The little orange chair

Today’s color is orange. I decided to post an image of the little retro orange chair that sits in our apartment.

This concluded our color challenge for the week. I am getting more practice with the new camera and more familiar with Light Room. Let’s see what next week’s challenge brings….
